John served more 40 years at Textron operating companies in the US and abroad. For the last 5 years of his work with Textron, John served as President and then as Chairman and Chief Operating Officer of Bell Helicopter Company in Fort Worth, Texas. After retirement from Bell in 2004, John became CEO of AgustaWestland’s US Presidential Helicopter Program. After winning this program, John retired from AgustaWestland in July of 2005.
He has more than 40 years in engineering, manufacturing, program management, marketing, sales and service in the commercial and defense aviation business. He served in a broad range of positions within Bell Helicopter and other Textron divisions:
John earned a BBA from Texas Wesleyan University and an MBA from Texas Christian University. He attended executive development courses at Brown, Harvard, Duke and the Chicago Graduate School of Business. In 1966 and 1967 John was in the US Army. He served in Viet Nam with the 87th Infantry.
He currently serves as a Trustee of Texas Wesleyan University. In addition, John teaches Graduate and Undergraduate classes in International Business, Contract Mangement and Organizational Behavior at the university.
John also serves as Treasurer of the Board of Directors of the JPS Health Network Foundation.
John has served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Presbyterian Night Shelter and the Tarrant County Salvation Army. He serves as a member of the Board of Directors of Rotorcraft Services, Inc. of Fort Worth. John also serves as a Business Advisory Board Member of the White Oak-Guggenheim group, a private investment firm in Atlanta specializing in defense and aerospace business and is an Executive Partner with Pearson’s Partners International in Dallas.
John is married to his high school sweetheart, Kathy. They live in Fort Worth and have two daughters and three grandsons.
